About Dr. Schultz, your E-nurse Guru
Dr. Schultz is a veteran Registered Nurse and Professor of Nursing who has been employed in all aspects of adult hospital care as well as in various aspects of nursing education as a teacher, consultant and administrator. She is a Professor of Nursing teaching research, informatics, biostatistics and role transition at the Department of Nursing at California State University, San Bernardino.
She received a Health Informatics Certification from the University of California, Davis and is an active volunteer member of many nursing and health care societies including HIMSS—the Health Information and Management Systems Society (http://www.himss.org/), including the Southern California HIMSS. She is a volunteer, three years running, for the HIMSS National meeting, this year (2020) in Orlando, Fla where over 40, 000 providers, vendors and other professionals are expected. She is Chair of a Cognitive Status workgroup for the CMS-sponsored PACIO (Post-Acute Care Interoperability) task force under the CARIN Initiative and an informed member of Nursing’s Big Data think tank at the University of Minnesota, the Nursing Knowledge Big Data Science initiative (Clinical Data Analytics Workgroup, Year-in-Review Paper Workgroup) https://www.nursing.umn.edu/sites/nursing.umn.edu/files/2019_big_data_science_proceedings.pdf.
Her Department of Nursing (CSUSB) recently adopted a Precision Health transformative approach to curriculum which integrates principles of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) into an undergraduate curricular framework as well as program outcome expectations.
She is a 31 year resident of Upland, California, a transplant from her native Ohio (Youngstown) and, when time permits, her interests include genealogy and citizen journalism.
